The short romantic comedy, Extraordinary Proof, premiered to laughter and applause at UCLA’s James Bridges Theater on Sunday, October 19th, 2008. The movie is writer/director Stephanie Storey’s first narrative film.

Stephanie has an Art degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. In Hollywood, she has produced over 500 half-hours of aired television for shows such as Tavis Smiley on PBS and Lewis Black’s Root of All Evil on Comedy Central. She is also a screenwriter with her husband and writing partner, Mike Gandolfi, an Emmy-winning comedy writer for TV shows such Roseanne and Dennis Miller Live.

Stephanie wrote and directed Extraordinary Proof as part of UCLA Extension’s two-term Advanced Filmmaking Workshop under the tutelage of Martin Spottl. The movie benefited from the guidance of several industry-professionals and the input of a classroom full of talented student-directors.

Extraordinary Proof stars the talented and beautiful Shae Kennedy as Tess, a woman who doesn’t believe in destiny. But when a stranger insists that the universe is trying to set her up with a man named Michael Bell, Tess goes on an unforgettable journey to discover the truth about fate. Uplifting and funny, the film encourages audiences to think about the role of destiny in their lives.

On October 19th, the movie premiered with the thirteen other short films produced during the workshop. Following the films, the students were awarded a certificate of completion and a reception concluded the event.

The film was produced by Storeytime Entertainment, a production company founded in 2008 by Stephanie Storey and Mike Gandolfi. Allison Dykstra, currently the Associate Producer of Nickelodeon’s True Jackson, VP, was the film’s producer.

The gifted cast includes appearances by comedian Ruthie Cullinane, Bret Porter and Mike Gandolfi, an actor best known for his recurring role on WB’s Gilmore Girls
